Winter experience on Venabygdsfjellet
Venabygdsfjellet is a fantastic hiking area with several hidden treasures, perfect for a variety of activities. Here you will find a great mix of high mountain terrain and plateaus, rounded peaks, and quiet birch forests.
Sleigh ride at Venabu
Several days a week (January 3 – April/as long as the snow lasts) you can join us for a sleigh ride. The trip lasts about 30 minutes. After the trip, you are welcome into the hotel’s fireplace lounge for a cup of hot drink.
During the winter season, it is possible to book a sleigh ride with a lavvo experience for groups of at least 4 people (the price is the same as for the Christmas sleigh ride).
Price: NOK 580 per person (children 4-9 years: NOK 290 per person)

A tradition since the 70s
Venabustallen has offered horseback riding for adults and children in a fantastic hiking area on Venabygdsfjellet since the 1970s. Venabustallen is currently operated by Venabu Fjellhotell.

Start the afternoon with a sleigh ride with Venabustallen’s Dole horses. The trip lasts about 30 minutes and ends with a cup of hot drink in the hotel’s fireplace lounge. After the trip, you can choose to use the hotel’s game room; use of shuffleboard, billiards, table tennis, darts, and foosball is included in the package. Access to the hotel’s saunas is also included in the price.
At 7:00 PM, we serve our special menu “A Taste of Local Tradition” – a dining experience out of the ordinary. The evening’s host welcomes you and presents the dishes, combined with a bit of storytelling.
Book transport
For guests participating in Venabu’s activities, we can offer transport between Gålå and Venabu if desired.
Price for transport to and from Venabu, total: NOK 2,200 for a passenger car / NOK 4,000 for a minibus.
